A promising young footballer has achieved a significant milestone in his aspiring football career by signing to play for the Under 9s at Aston Villa Football Club. The signing took place on the 20th of May, marking a new chapter for the young athlete.
Mika, a Year 3 pupil from our academy, was first recognised whilst he was first playing for the Oldbury Park Tigers during a tournament. Despite showing great promise, he faced a setback when he was released from initial training sessions due to elbow injuries.
However, Mika’s passion for football remained undeterred. His talent caught the eye of scouts once again, this time from prestigious clubs such as Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Leicester, Coventry and Aston Villa. During this period, he honed his skills playing for Solihul Academy on Saturdays, and Solihul Moors on Sundays. Aston Villa scouts Jon Sarriegui and Dave Crowe played a pivotal role in recognising Mika’s potential and bringing him back into the scouting spotlight.
Mr Gheorge Madalin Alexandru, Mika’s father, expressed his immense pride for his son. He said: “We are so proud of Mika. He trains really hard and has great ambition at such a young age. We are also very thankful to his school, Oasis Academy Warndon, for being so understanding and encouraging when it comes to Mika’s training commitments. Mika couldn’t have achieved this without his school’s help.”
Mika’s success is a testament to what can be achieved with hard work and the right support. As he embarks on his new adventure with Aston Villa, the community eagerly anticipates seeing what the future holds for the young football star.
Principal Ms S Owen, also shared her thoughts on Mika’s achievement: “Mika’s dedication and passion for football are truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and the entire academy community will continue to support him.”
